Yoga teaches us that we can have whatever we may want in life if we are willing to provide it for others first.
— Shannon Gannon

Spend a weekend delving into the potent teachings of Jivamukti Yoga, a method of Yoga founded in the 1980s in New York City by Sharon Gannon + David Life.

Steeped both in the ancient teachings of Yoga as well as a modern twist in how we can apply these teachings to our lives today, Jivamukti Yoga is one of nine internationally recognised forms of Hatha Yoga in the world. The method offers a compelling + systematic path to liberation centred around compassion for all living beings.

A 300-hour Certified Jivamukti Teacher, Yoga Corner Founder Amy Leonard-King will share with you teachings from the Jivamukti lineage as learned from her teachers Sharon + David, using as a guide the method’s five tenets:

·      Shastra (scripture)

·      Bhakti (devotion)

·      Ahimsā (nonviolence, non-harming)

·      Nāda (music)

·      Dhyana (meditation)

Combining these 5 most tangible aspects from Yoga as a technology for spiritual awakening, with an energetic Vinyasa-based Asana practice, in just a short time as a Jivamukti devotee you will find yourself progressing further and more quickly along your path…in your body, your spirit and your life.

Expect a deep exploration of the philosophy of Yoga – with a specific focus on the ethical conduct of the Yogi, music + chanting, meditation, pranayama and time spent breaking down and practicing inversions; all as a way of preparing the body for deep inner self-[re] discovery and ultimately liberation from suffering.

This weekend immersion will equip you with a deeper understanding of the philosophy behind the Jivamukti Yoga method, as well as an insight into what you might expect on continued training offered by the Jivamukti Yoga School.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER: AMY LEONARD-KING

Amy_Profile_Immersions.jpg

Amy is passionate about sharing yoga. Her own experience with the practice was a slow and steady evolution into what is now not only a daily practice, but touches every aspect of her life.

After completing her BCom at Melbourne University and then working a corporate job for 5 years, Amy's wish to create a 'job' that was her passion and life's work lead to taking a first Yoga Teacher Training whilst living abroad in London, and subsequently spending recent years travelling and studying under Yoga teachers from different lineages including Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Anusara, Jivamukti and Yin Yoga both here in Melbourne and all over the world. The Yoga Corner studio is Amy's dream come into reality, and was many years in the making, the creation of a place for people to come and connect back to the truest part of themselves.

Amy is humbled and inspired by the opportunity to share her love and joy of the practices of Yoga with anyone willing to take that first step onto the Yoga mat. More than exploring the physical practice in her classes and linking awareness of the breath, Amy's passion lies in sharing the deeper philosophy and ancient teachings that take us to a more subtle and profound understanding of ourselves, drawing us closer to our original state of truth, consciousness + bliss. Amy brings a calming presence to her teaching, whilst challenging students both physically and mentally, offering up ways to both ground + find our centre, as well as expand beyond our perceived limitations. She links the ancient practices of Yoga with how we can access these ideas in our modern lives.
